Presidency Explains Pardon for Sammy Gyamfi

Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu clarifies the Presidency's decision to pardon Sammy Gyamfi, following his apology and caution over the controversial dollar gift to Nana Agradaa

Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu has provided clarity on the Presidency’s decision to pardon and issue a formal caution to Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Gold Board, following his controversial dollar gift to Nana Agradaa, a former priestess turned evangelist.

In an interview on May 14, Ofosu explained that the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, took swift action upon the matter’s emergence. Debrah invited Gyamfi to provide his side of the story, ensuring a fair process before any decisions were made.

Gyamfi offered a full explanation of the incident and issued a public apology, which was carefully considered. “His apology showed remorse and a recognition that such actions should be avoided in the future,” Ofosu remarked.

After receiving Gyamfi’s explanation and apology, the Chief of Staff briefed President John Dramani Mahama, leading to the decision to issue a caution to Gyamfi, rather than further punitive action.

“The apology and the caution are seen as sufficient measures to close the matter,” Ofosu concluded, emphasizing that these actions were deemed appropriate to resolve the situation.
