Two women arrested following discovery of 1,650 slabs of Indian hemp in Nkawkaw home

The Eastern North Police Command in Kwahu Mpraeso has arrested two women after discovering 1,650 slabs of what is believed to be Indian hemp at their residence in Nkawkaw Ampekrom.

The arrest took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, following several months of surveillance, according to the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Isaac Kwadwo Asante.

The suspects, 40-year-old Hawa Ibrahim, the landlady, and 30-year-old Latifa Adams, were apprehended when police acted on a tip-off and conducted a thorough search of their home. During the operation, 24 large bags filled with Indian hemp were recovered.

Both women are currently in police custody and are aiding with the investigation. They will soon face court proceedings.
