Deadly Collision Claims Four Lives on Assin Bresiako Road

Mechanical Failure Suspected in Crash That Killed Four at Assin Bresiako

A deadly head-on collision between a Yutong bus and a tipper truck has left four people dead and several others injured at Assin Bresiako, located in the Assin North District of Ghana’s Central Region.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday when a Yutong bus (registration GT 5136-11), traveling from Cape Coast to Kumasi, attempted to overtake another vehicle and veered into the path of an oncoming tipper truck (registration BA 2267-14) heading toward Assin Fosu.

According to eyewitnesses, the Yutong bus lost control during the overtaking maneuver, with reports indicating that the steering wheel locked, resulting in a devastating head-on crash.

Though police have yet to release an official report, onlookers confirmed that four passengers died at the scene, and numerous others were rushed to nearby medical facilities with injuries.

Elisha Sarpong, Assemblyman for the Assin Bresiako Electoral Area, corroborated the account, stating that the bus had departed from Cape Coast en route to Kumasi.

He further revealed that the bus mate claimed the steering failure occurred mid-overtake, which ultimately led to the fatal collision.

Tragically, one of the drivers was among those who lost their lives.
