US Visa Approvals for Ghanaians Reached 25,000 in 2024 – Embassy

Thousands gain entry to the U.S. as embassy promotes safe and lawful travel routes.

The United States Embassy in Ghana has announced that it granted around 25,000 visas to Ghanaian nationals in 2024, selected from a pool of approximately 61,000 applications.

This update came during the Embassy’s Consular Media Day held on Friday, May 9, 2025, an event aimed at shedding light on the visa application process, enhancing public understanding, and outlining improvements in service delivery.

U.S. Consular General Elliot Fertik addressed attendees, emphasizing the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to maintain a transparent, efficient, and user-friendly visa process.

“We continue to welcome Ghanaians pursuing opportunities in education, business, or tourism in the United States,” Fertik said. “However, we expect all applicants to respect U.S. laws once they enter the country.”

He also warned against the use of deceptive practices when applying for visas, noting the U.S. government’s strict policy against illegal immigration.

“Any attempts to circumvent the legal process will be met with consequences, including visa denial or permanent bans,” Fertik stated, encouraging Ghanaians to use legitimate channels and fully understand the requirements involved.
