The long search for missing South African journalist Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Precious Mdhluli, ended in heartbreak after their decomposed bodies were found in a remote area of northern Limpopo, over two months after they vanished.
According to local reports, police discovered human remains in the bush and, though DNA confirmation is pending, forensic analysis has already identified them as Ndlovu and Mdhluli. Ndlovu was a respected media figure and founder of Capital Live radio in Pretoria.
The couple disappeared on February 18, and news of their confirmed deaths has stunned the South African media community. Numerous press organizations have expressed deep sorrow, mourning the loss of two valued members of the industry.
In a joint statement, the African Media and Communicators Forum (AMCF) and the National Press Club (NPC) revealed that a significant breakthrough in the case had led to the arrest of five suspects. The suspects were reportedly found in possession of stolen property, including household items and parts of the victims’ vehicle.
Elijah Mhlanga, chair of the AMCF, expressed his grief: “We held on to hope, even as days passed. It’s a painful loss. Our heartfelt condolences go to their families.”
The murders have reignited concerns about South Africa’s alarmingly high crime rates, as authorities press forward with investigations into the brutal killings.
