The Volta Region’s Ketu South Municipality community of Amefinukope is reeling from shock after the discovery of five exhumed bodies in two local cemeteries. The heads of the corpses were missing.
The unsettling discovery was made on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Community leader Mr Kwashi Senaya reported that the graves were desecrated, with damage evident at the head of each burial site. He confirmed that the Amefinu and Kponor families’ cemeteries were affected.
The incident has been reported to the Ghana Police Service at the Agbozume Police Station, and a full investigation is underway to find the perpetrators of this heinous and sacrilegious act.
Logove Electoral Area Assembly Member Ibrahim Ayuba has appealed to the community for calm and urged full cooperation with the police. He also encouraged residents to provide any information that might aid the investigation.
The community is left with fear, outrage, and many unanswered questions about the motives behind the grave desecration.
