Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has criticized President John Dramani Mahama’s initial 120 days in office, calling the period a major disappointment with little to show for it.
At a New Patriotic Party (NPP) press briefing, Afenyo-Markin accused the President of breaking his “social contract” with Ghanaians, arguing that many of the promises made early on have not been honored.
He described the 120-day agenda as a mere political stunt, claiming it was filled with ambitious pledges that lacked genuine commitment.
Afenyo-Markin cited the persistence of illegal mining (galamsey) and the continued enforcement of the COVID-19 levy as evidence of the administration’s failure to deliver on key promises.
He also criticized the government’s unfulfilled vow to scrap what he called nuisance taxes, and expressed concern over worsening environmental damage.
With the 120-day milestone now passed, Afenyo-Markin warned that Ghanaians are beginning to see the true character of the current government and urged citizens to stay alert and actively uphold democratic accountability.
