A student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), affiliated with Unity Hall (Conti), is currently receiving treatment after being stabbed multiple times during a violent incident at a New Patriotic Party (NPP) “Thank You” tour event in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at the Pentecost Church in Bantama, where the event was being held.
The victim was part of a Jama group from Unity Hall, hired by the team of former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, to energize the gathering.
Eyewitnesses report that a wealthy associate of Agyapong gave money to the Jama group during the event. However, shortly after, a group of heavily built, armed men—allegedly linked to the NPP—stormed the venue and forcibly seized the money.
A confrontation ensued between the Jama group and the armed men, during which gunshots were reportedly fired. In the chaos, one member of the Jama group was stabbed.
The injured student was rushed to the emergency unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
Kennedy Agyapong’s team has filed an official complaint with the Kumasi Central Police Command. As of now, no arrests have been made.
