President Mahama Swears in New Ghana Armed Forces Commanders

President John Dramani Mahama has officially sworn in the newly appointed service commanders of the Ghana Armed Forces as members of the Armed Forces Council.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Ministry of Defence, just ahead of a scheduled Council meeting to discuss crucial matters such as promotions and the modernization of military equipment.
The newly inducted commanders include:

Major General William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff

Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, Chief of Army Staff

Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, Chief of Naval Staff

Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong, Chief of Air Staff
In his address, President Mahama urged the commanders to remain committed to professionalism, discipline, and integrity. He underscored the vital role the Armed Forces play in preserving national peace and security.
The ceremony was attended by key members of the Armed Forces Council, including:

The Armed Forces Council advises the President on matters concerning the organization and administration of the military. This includes appointments, promotions, and personnel welfare.
The Council is expected to convene regularly to address strategic issues and ensure the Armed Forces are well-equipped and ready to meet evolving security challenges.
