Amanase Crash Aftermath: Pregnant Survivor Tragically Loses Unborn Child

Unborn Baby Lost After Amanase Crash

A deeply saddening development has emerged from the fatal accident that occurred on Tuesday, April 22, near Amanase on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

A pregnant woman who survived the devastating crash, which resulted in the immediate loss of 11 lives, has tragically lost her unborn baby due to the severity of the impact.

Medical personnel at the Suhum Government Hospital confirmed the heartbreaking loss after conducting an ultrasound scan upon the woman’s arrival. The scan revealed that the unborn child did not survive the traumatic injuries sustained in the collision.

The woman herself suffered severe injuries, including a serious degloving injury to her skull, necessitating immediate surgical intervention.

In related news, plans are underway to transfer one of the two individuals who remain in critical condition to the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua for more specialized medical care.

Dr. Ama Afriyie, the lead physician at the Suhum Government Hospital’s emergency ward, provided an update on the medical status of all admitted patients to the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Awatey. The Minister visited the hospital to offer support and donated GHC 5,000 towards the initial treatment costs for the victims.

Minister Awatey urged the hospital staff to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to all those hospitalized, assuring them that the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) would bear all medical expenses, particularly for victims who lack family support in this difficult time. The tragic loss of the unborn child adds another layer of sorrow to the already devastating consequences of the Amanase crash, highlighting the profound human cost of such accidents.
