Hajj Task Force Issues Apology to Ghanaian Pilgrims Affected by Visa Issues

Errors in travel documentation affect several pilgrims; repatriation explained as administrative, not criminal

The National Hajj Task Force has issued a formal apology to Ghanaian pilgrims who were unable to make the 2025 pilgrimage to Mecca due to unforeseen complications, primarily related to visa issues.

Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, Head of Corporate Affairs for the Task Force, acknowledged the challenges and frustrations experienced by affected pilgrims.

“We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to those who paid and were ready to embark on the journey but were hindered by visa problems,” he stated.

“We sincerely apologise and ask for their forgiveness. Rest assured, we are working diligently to prevent a recurrence in future Hajj operations.”

In addition to the stranded pilgrims, the Task Force confirmed the unfortunate deaths of two Ghanaian pilgrims during this year’s Hajj.

Despite the setbacks, around 6,000 Ghanaians successfully completed the pilgrimage.

Further complications included the return of five individuals to Ghana due to documentation issues. Clarifying the situation, Alhaji Fuseini rejected the term “deportation,” instead saying they were “repatriated” due to administrative errors, not criminal wrongdoing.

He assured the public that steps are being taken to correct these issues and potentially allow those affected to travel again soon.

The Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to improving the pilgrimage experience and pledged to ensure smoother and more reliable arrangements in the future.
