Black Stars Budget for October 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Awaits Approval – Kofi Adams

Ghana currently tops Group I in the African qualifiers with 19 points

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that the proposed budget for Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, ahead of their October 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, is still awaiting approval.

In a press statement issued ahead of Ghana’s upcoming qualifiers, the Minister revealed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) submitted a budget estimate of $1.12 million for the two matches scheduled next month.

The breakdown of the proposed budget includes:

$733,000 for Ghana’s away fixture against the Central African Republic (CAR) on October 8 in Morocco.

$387,000 for the home match against Comoros on October 12 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Mr. Adams stated that the GFA submitted the proposal to the Sports Ministry on September 18, and it was forwarded to the Office of the President the following day. As of now, the Ministry is still awaiting official approval.

Ghana currently tops Group I in the African qualifiers with 19 points, holding a three-point lead over second-placed Madagascar, with just two games remaining. Only the group winner will qualify directly for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The outcome of these two matches will be crucial in determining Ghana’s place at the global tournament.
