Dawuda Sumaila in Custody After Viral Attack Footage
The Ghana Police Service has arrested Dawuda Sumaila, the suspect captured in a widely circulated video assaulting a young man with a machete.
Sumaila was apprehended on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation.
The disturbing incident, which occurred on Friday, April 4th, 2025, in Anyinam in the Eastern Region, showed Sumaila attacking the victim near a fuel tanker.
The shocking footage sparked public outrage and demands for justice after it went viral on social media.
Sumaila, who works as a tanker driver’s mate, is currently in police custody and assisting with the ongoing investigation.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of their urgent attention to the case and promised to release further information as the investigation progresses.
