Ntim Fordjour Thanks Bawumia, Vows Resistance After Alleged Arrest Attempt

Ntim Fordjour Defiant After Alleged Arrest, Accuses Government of Intimidation

Assin South MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has expressed gratitude to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his support following what he alleges was a politically motivated harassment attempt.

On April 9th, National Investigations Bureau (NIB) operatives reportedly raided Fordjour’s residence, an action he claims was an attempt to intimidate him in his role as Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee.

The alleged arrest attempt was prevented by intervention from Minority NPP members.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Fordjour accused the NDC government of targeting opposition MPs to suppress their oversight responsibilities.

“Thank you very much HE Dr Mahamudu Bawumia @MBawumia for the visit to my residence this evening following the politically-motivated lawless act of harassment in the attempt of the NDC government to gag MPs from exercising their legitimate oversight,” he wrote.

Fordjour’s comments contribute to increasing concerns about alleged political intimidation in the lead-up to the upcoming elections. He also stated that “They can’t gag us”.
