Esther Smith Brands Gospel Music Industry “Pure Evil,” Shares Experiences of Spiritual Attacks
Gospel Star Esther Smith Speaks Out on "Evil" Within the Industry

Ghanaian gospel singer Esther Smith has described the gospel music industry as “pure evil,” echoing sentiments shared by fellow artist Cwesi Oteng regarding negative experiences within the scene.
Smith’s comments came in response to Cwesi Oteng’s recent revelation on Joy Prime about how some gospel musicians allegedly took his early albums to cemeteries in an attempt to sabotage his success. In a Facebook post, Esther Smith stated that she has also faced similar situations, suggesting a pattern of spiritual attacks and envy within the industry.
“Hmmm this industry. You see, if you are genuine they will fight and deal with you until you give up,” she wrote, emphasizing the need for constant prayer against these forces. She claimed that these attacks could affect various aspects of an artist’s life, including relationships, finances, and health. “The industry is pure evil. Sad!!!! Pray,” she concluded.
Cwesi Oteng had explained that his unique style and rapid rise in the gospel music scene led to envy and opposition from some established artists who feared being overshadowed. He alleged that his debut album was taken to cemeteries and other mysterious locations to hinder his breakthrough.
While some have challenged Cwesi Oteng to name those involved, Esther Smith’s corroborating statement suggests that these challenges are a reality for some genuine artists in the Ghanaian gospel music industry.
