Daniel McKorley Pledges Investment in Ghana’s Creative Industry

Daniel McKorley Commits to Boosting Ghana's Creative Sector with Investment and Support

Business magnate and CEO of McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley, has expressed his commitment to supporting Ghana’s creative industry by investing in it. Known for his success in various sectors, including aviation, McKorley has now set his sights on boosting the creative arts sector.

In a recent interview, McKorley shared his admiration for the talent and hard work of Ghanaian creatives, acknowledging, however, that financial support is often the missing link to help elevate their careers. He specifically praised artists like Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, calling them among the most talented musicians in Africa, and underscoring that their talent rivals that of any Nigerian artists.

McKorley explained his decision to invest in the sector, emphasizing the significant financial potential of the creative economy. “The creative space brings a lot of money, and I smile when there’s good money, but it’s not my space. I’d rather sit back and play the role of a godfather to provide support to those entering the industry,” he said.

He also urged other businessmen to invest in the sector, noting that musicians and other creatives serve as key ambassadors for the country. “I believe they need serious support from businessmen. They are our ambassadors, and I feel we need to invest more in them,” he remarked.

In 2022, McKorley demonstrated his commitment by awarding a $2 million contract to Ghanaian multidisciplinary creative, George Quaye. The announcement was made at the McDan Youth Connect event at KNUST in Kumasi, where McKorley also encouraged the youth to aim for greatness and take gradual steps towards success.
